Welcome to SecureVault. By accessing or using our password management platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please discontinue use of the platform immediately.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or accessing SecureVault, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SecureVault.
2. Description of Service
SecureVault provides a cloud-based password management and credential storage platform featuring:
- AES-256 encrypted credential vault for storing passwords and sensitive data
- Built-in TOTP / 2FA authenticator code generation and management
- Multi-user team management with role-based access control
- Activity audit logging and security event monitoring
- An administrative dashboard for managing users and credentials
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice to registered users.
3. Account Registration & Responsibilities
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials and master password
- Be solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Use a strong, unique master password not used elsewhere
- Enable two-factor authentication to protect your account
Important: Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot recover your master password or decrypt your vault data. You are solely responsible for maintaining access to your account.
4. Permitted Use
SecureVault is intended for lawful personal and business use to securely manage credentials. You may use the platform to:
- Store your own personal or organizational passwords and credentials
- Generate and manage TOTP/2FA codes for your accounts
- Manage access for authorized team members within your organization
- Access and retrieve stored credentials for legitimate purposes
5. Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to use SecureVault to:
- Store credentials for accounts you do not own or are not authorized to access
- Engage in any illegal activity or facilitate unauthorized access to third-party systems
- Upload malicious code, malware, or any content that may harm the platform or other users
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the platform's security measures
- Conduct automated scraping, crawling, or excessive API requests that burden the service
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
- Share your account credentials with unauthorized individuals
- Use the platform to store or distribute illegal content
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination and legal action where appropriate.
6. Security Responsibilities
While we employ industry-standard security measures, you acknowledge that:
- No system is entirely immune to security breaches or attacks
- You are responsible for the security of your devices used to access the platform
- You must keep your master password confidential and use a strong, unique password
- You should report any suspected security vulnerabilities responsibly to our team
7. Intellectual Property
All aspects of SecureVault — including the software, design, logos, trademarks, and content — are the exclusive intellectual property of SecureVault and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the platform for its intended purposes only. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
You retain all rights to the data you store in your vault. By using the platform, you grant us a limited license to store and transmit your encrypted data solely as necessary to provide the service.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
SecureVault is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We disclaim all warranties including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
- Defects will be corrected within any specific timeframe
- The platform is free from viruses or other harmful components
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SecureVault and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.
Our total cumulative liability to you shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms of Use or for conduct we determine to be harmful to the platform, other users, or third parties. Upon termination:
- Your right to access the platform ceases immediately
- Your vault data will be scheduled for deletion within 30 days
- Provisions regarding intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law shall survive termination
You may delete your own account at any time through the dashboard settings.
11. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms of Use at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users and indicated by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the platform after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
